I will vote up star trek, only to vote down star wars and all the nasty rat tail trends they may or may have not created.
Star Trek wins based on time wasting potential. Star Trek gives you 30 seasons and 11 movies to work with. Star Wars only has 7ish movies and a few spin-off cartoons (plus the Ewok movies and the Christmas special).
Yeah, but most of that time wasting potential is BAD. How many seasons and spinoffs of Star Trek are just terrible? Voyager? Enterprise? Come on.
Star Wars has freaking Jedis, Sith, Ewoks, Galactic Wars, Wookies, Samuel Leroy Jackson with a fucking lightsaber… the list of awesome just goes on.
