US game sales for September were sickening, the unholy PS3 had eked out a victory over the Wii. Your friendly Shufflingdead sales analyst, me, predicted that this would ultimately prove to be meaningless, as the Wii had New Super Mario Bros. coming.
As it turns out, the Wii didn’t even need Mario, which doesn’t come out until November. A measly $50 price cut and the release of Wii Fit Plus were all that the system needed to regain dominance. In October, the Wii sold 506.9K, the PS3 sold 320.6K, and the X-Box 360 sold a laughable 249.7K.
Hilariously, the PSP Go launched in October, yet PSP sales were still down from September. The DS annihilated the PSP 457.6K to 174.6K.
My predictions for November: Wii beats PS3, PSP, and 360 combined. New Super Mario Bros. Wii will be the top selling piece of software for the month, despite Call of Duty.
