Wack attacks against free speech champions Assange and Franken
The internet is serious business these days. Wikileaks made news some time ago when they released thousands of classified reports pertaining to the war in Afghanistan. That brought a lot of attention to the site, and its founder Julian Assange.
On Friday, a warrant was issued for Assange in Sweden following a rape and molestation accusation. Convenient for his critics, huh? Well, a judge has dropped the charges, explaining “I don’t think there is reason to suspect that he has committed rape.” No doubt the stigma associated with the charges will linger. Meanwhile, Wikileaks’ response via Twitter claimed they “had been warned to expect ‘dirty tricks.’”
Meanwhile, net neutrality proponent US Senator Al Franken just found a hole in one of his home’s windows, possibly from a BB gun. Police say it is unlikely the attack was targeting Franken based on the chances his residence was known. Still, the possibility remains. Judging by the commentors on CNN.com, voters are unhappy that the man is sticking up for the general population rather than corporate interests. Vanilla Gorilla claims “simply put he is clown with a distorted moral compass.”
