TRENDWATCH: Changing the world with your Facebook profile picture

Child abuse is a serious issue. That’s why a large number of Facebook users have decided to do something about it, giving up an untold amount of free time, and changing their profile pictures. The idea is for everyone on Facebook to switch their profile images to shots from cartoons/of cartoon characters. Thus, children the world over will be liberated from their abusers.

Haters of the movement are piling on the rhetoric, describing the grassroots revolution as “slacktivism.” Indeed, some may even argue that it is the slackest of slacktivism in the history of laziness. Clearly, those people underestimate the awesome power generated by cartoons, as well as the copy-paste status updates that are coming with this trend. Consider this:

Change your facebook profile picture to a cartoon from your childhood and invite your friends to do the same, until Monday December 6th there should be no human faces on facebook just an invasion of memories! This is for violence against children!

Child abuse will be over by Tuesday.
