Nerds freak out upon seeing Mark Hamill fiddle with a plastic stick

George Lucas has just revealed that the complete Star Wars sextology will be coming to Blu-Ray in Fall 2011. The release will feature a pile of extras, including documentaries, retrospectives, interviews, and yes, deleted scenes.

I’m not talking about the extra footage George already crammed into the original trilogy, though that’s still there. No, I’m talking about actual movie footage previously unseen. That includes a long-lost and much talked about clip from Return of the Jedi in which Luke assembles a new lightsaber and hides it in R2-D2 for later use against Jabba and his cronies. Check out the video above to hear nerds freak out about a few seconds of meaninglessness.

The new footage will not be packed into the already over-burdened films, remaining as extras on the Blu-Rays.
