Manga collector jailed for possessing… manga
Christopher Handley was sentenced this Thursday to 6 months of jail time after pleading guilty to the importing and possession of some typical, humdrum manga. The 40-year-old Iowa resident had apparently purchased books containing representations of child sex and bestiality from Japan.
This case is yet another example of US lawmakers riding the “protect the children” train to success, which the mouth-breathing masses either don’t realize or don’t care inhibits the rights of artists and art enthusiasts. Handley was charged under the 2003 Protect Act, which congress passed to prevent anime-loving gentle neckbeards from enjoying the richness of Japanese school girl fetishism.
Instead of just barring child pornography, something which actually harms children, government banned even fake representations of it, and now anime enthusiast wolfshirts like Chris Handley are being thrown in jail despite not hurting anyone. I just hope Chris is allowed to paint a dragon onto his prison issue orange jumpsuit.
And now, let’s have a look at the incarceration rate in the United States as compared to other countries:

Nice freedom you’ve got there.
