Internet nerds still sexist, study finds
By study, I mean something I determined while browsing Digg five, FIVE!, months ago. The following image received a whopping 4408 diggs, which I should point out is well beyond what even a highly popular submission on Digg usually receives. Follow the jump for full analysis.

Let’s analyze what’s going on in this image. This is yet another one of those stupid “motivational poster” Photoshops that the internet seems to have become cluttered with, and the use of that particular meme tells us that its creator regards his or her message as a sort of truism. Sluts apparently stand out in a crowd. She’s wearing some bright shoes and showing some leg, she must really love the sex, right? Let’s demean her and covet her at the same time! By the way, she’s asking for it, right?
This image is an example of that particular method sexists have of controlling female sexuality simply by jumping up and down, screaming, and pointing at it.
The image’s success on Digg, which included plenty of comments along the lines of user LeviTheSmith’s “This picture FTW I’d bone the girl in it,” serves to demonstrate the conflict that exists within social discourse regarding female sexuality. People love hot women, they want them to be promiscuous, but they feel the need to insult them while desiring them. This may indicate an attempt to maintain control by trying to subvert the power of women’s sexuality by harshly criticizing its open display.
