Founder of Digg eludes grammatically correct transcription
Kevin Rose, founder of the massively successful Digg.com recently gave a talk called “Taking your Site from One to One Million.” Luckily, someone has very poorly transcribed the talk, and inserted some wildly incorrect spelling and grammar: check it out. The piece masquerades as being written by Kevin, but is actually just lifted from his talk. I found this article right on the front page of Digg.com, where it has surely received tens of thousands of views. My ego flags in the face of this site’s success. Here’s an example of the language butchering I’m talking about:
Users who submitted stories where rewarded by having their name in a larger font and a friending icon put beside their story submission.
Good fucking Christ. Try: “Users who submitted stories were rewarded by having their names in a larger font and a friending icon put beside their story submissions.
Allow me to add an eleventh piece of advice to Kevin’s ten: Slam some writing together about an internet celebrity, spread link around, get hits.
