Entire world economy conspires against Nintendo
In the quarter ending June 30, 2010 Nintendo somehow managed to lose $290 million USD. This, despite the company posting ¥188 646 million in sales.
How, exactly, could a company that sells so many systems and games, and crushes its competition month over month, possibly lose money? Well, I have no idea. Something about unfavourable currency markets making the Yen way too strong compared to the Euro and Dollar. Most of the company’s sales occur overseas, and because of the strong Yen, those sales count for less than they normally would. The company’s profit margins for non-Japanese regions were completely eaten-up.
On the non-infuriating side, the company moved 4 million copies of Super Mario Galaxy 2 for the quarter.

I was just going to write something about this, figuring you would put blinders on about it. Lotta money they managed to lose…a little confused on it myself.
