December NPD results demonstrate Nintendo's domination

US video games sales for December 2009 have been released, and not only did the good guys win, they destroyed their pathetic competition. 3.81 million Wiis were sold, decimating all comers, and blowing away previous December sales records. The PS3 sold an insignificant 1.36 million units, and the 360 reached an embarrassing 1.31 million.

The DS also trounced the increasingly dead looking PSP, 3.31 million to 654.7 thousand.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii was the top selling game of the month, being taken into the loving arms of 2.82 million satisfied customers. This far exceeds the combined total of Modern Warfare 2 across PS3 and 360, which was bought by 2.75 million deluded morons.

Sadly, my prediction of DS and Wii combining to sell 10 million units didn’t come true. As for my other predictions, I was right that NSMB Wii was the top selling game, and the competition probably did weep in shame. It is still unknown if they will surrender.

For January, I predict ongoing domination from Wii and DS. I also envision No More Heroes 2 being recognized as the great game it is and cracking the top 10 in software.
