Conservatives manipulate social media site Digg.com

August 10, 2010 News 1 Comment

A conspiracy has been uncovered revealing that a group of about 100 conservatives actively worked together to influence the stories appearing on link sharing site Digg.com

The so called “Digg Patriots” colluded on a Yahoo Group, in which they organized to Digg down supposedly liberally slanted stories, and the submitted links of purportedly liberal users of the site. The group includes a number of powerful and long-time Digg users, allowing this seemingly small number of total users to wreak massive manipulation.

The number of stories targeted and buried by this brigade is in the thousands. Topics of (dis)interest for the group include homophobia, racism, science, the environment, and anything critical of the Republican party or its allies.

The Digg Patriots conspiracy also included efforts to game Digg via multiple accounts, and attempts to have certain users banned.
