April NPD numbers awash in the blood of Nintendo’s enemies

The jerks over at NPD Group have decided to only publicly release numbers for the top five games this month, and aren’t saying what the PS2 sells any more. No matter, Nintendo’s domination still shines through.
The DS and Wii took the top two spots when it comes to hardware sales for the month of April 2010 in the US. The 360 edged out the PS3 by only a few thousand units, and the PSP’s sales shrunk to a shockingly poor 65 500. Had NPD bothered with PS2 numbers, the ten year old system would have almost certainly outsold the PSP.
In software, 486 100 morons bought Splinter Cell: Conviction for 360, giving the game top spot. Other than that, quality software for Nintendo systems shone through. Pokémon SoulSilver and HeartGold continued their victory march, selling 242.9K and 192.6K, hitting spots two and four, respectively. New Super Mario Bros. Wii took third with 200.3K units sold.
My ongoing prediction of the two Nintendo systems enveloping all competitors on the graph still didn’t happen, but with the absence of PS2 numbers, my dream came a little closer to reality this month. My prediction for May is simply this: Mario Galaxy 2 number one.
