Brannigan 2009 Speech

November 26, 2009 Newbs No Comments

Each year at my birthday, known as The Brannigan, I perform a special speech. This is the speech from Brannigan 2009.

Welcome to Brannigan 2009, Brannigan 6. It’s now time for the annual speech

Good evening. In less than an hour young adults from here will join others from around the world, and you will be launching the largest celebration in the history of mankind.

Mankind… That… word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can’t be consumed by our petty differences any more. We will be united in our common interests.

Perhaps it’s fate that today is in the month of November, and you will once again be fighting for our birthdays. Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution, but from annihilation. We’re partying for our right to live. To exist.

And should we win the day, the month of November will no longer be known as Wes and Newbs’ birthday, but as the month when the world declared in one voice, “We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight!” We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive!

Today we celebrate our Birthday.

The Dungeon’s Boss: Because it’s there

I began 2009 with this New Year’s resolution: beat three games for every one that I buy/get. While I’ve been able to maintain that ratio for most of the year, it looks unlikely that I’ll be able to finish with it. The end-of-year tag-team of my birthday and Christmas inevitably leads to an onslaught of new games, and while I may have time to beat the games coming in, I will surely not be able to beat the other two games for each of those that is needed.

I’m not especially distraught about this failing, it was a good effort for a noble cause, and led to a much more reasonable gaming budget. For 2010, however, I want to attempt something more sweeping.

The Dungeon’s Boss

For a very long time, several years actually, I’ve been trying to decide how to deal with a particular urge. That is the urge to blog in a wild, uncontrolled fashion about video games.

Next Level Blogging

November 8, 2009 Newbs No Comments

Today is missing Shufflingdead’s traditional Sunday video. That likely shocks and offends you, and I’m sorry. Still, effort is being applied to the site today. To begin with, I have uncovered a number of updates which didn’t previously have proper homes on the site, and as such didn’t come over with the move to WordPress. I’ve now restored:

Three open letters:
Amy Lee
William Shatner

Two blog posts:
On Blogging and Minish Cap
Minish Cap: Complete

And one Word of the Week:

These old updates eventually spawned the Blogs and Things of the Week sections, which have both become integral parts of Shufflingdead.com. In looking over these early attempts at creating small, less structured updates to the site, I became inspired. I’ve decided to start a new blog here at Shufflingdead, called The Dungeon’s Boss, the first update of which will be viewable later today.

Tags and a Contact Page

October 5, 2009 Newbs No Comments

I’m pleased to announce that the Shufflingdead news section has launched. Expect five news stories a week from now until I get bored. There is quite a backlog of stories I want to cover, so you may see some older stories appearing for awhile. To accommodate the diverse array of topics I plan on covering in the news section, I’ve added tags to the content of the site, and you can browse those tags on the right.

If you have any thoughts regarding the news section, tags, or anything else on the site, you can let me know about them by using the all new contact page. Oooh. I’d be especially interested to hear opinions on Shufflingdead’s layout, since I’m playing with that right now.
