sulci’s Photoblog: Newbs as Commander William T. Riker

December 28, 2010 sulci No Comments

sulci here. Welcome to my new photoblog at ShufflingDead. Photography is my passion, but being a part of team ShufflingDead and an ardent MMOer means I’m also on the pulse of geek culture. I’m going to use this space to post the photos I take which happen to intersect these two worlds.

You can check out much more of my photography work on my Flickr page.

First up, ShufflingDead editor-in-chief Newbs in his cosplay attempt at Commander William T. Riker of Star Trek: The Next Generation fame. We didn’t have much in the way of props (or even a decent costume) so much of what you see in these photos is the result of my Photoshop skills. The beard, however, is all real.

Shufflingdead’s historic march

Shufflingdead continues to grow at an incredible pace. It was not long ago that we reached 100 fans on Facebook, and we have since accrued many more fans there. Not to be immodest, but Shufflingdead is taking off at an ever-accelerating pace, with our traffic growing at 1000% year over year.

I’d like to thank all of our fans, as well as the people who help out on the site. In particular, sulci, for editing our videos and handling the technical side of things, Weskimo, for his frequency, regularity, and quality of submissions, and apocalyptic_girl, for sitting next to me and being so damn funny in our videos. Of course, I would be remiss if I did not give a shout out to our less regular contributors, including aparticularperson, Jack, Katte, and Jolly Argonaut, who have all amazed me with their humour in recent months.

Read my Resident Evil: Afterlife review at CineBombs.com

September 17, 2010 Newbs No Comments

Well folks, we’ve got something a little different for you here today. I’ve written a movie review, but it’s not on Shufflingdead. Actually, it’s at CineBombs.com!

Logic and reason were never a very important part of Paul W. S. Anderson’s Resident Evil films. Afterlife, the latest entry in his sci-fi/zombie series loosely adapted from the popular survival-horror Resident Evil video games is as gleefully dismissive of those traits as ever. The movie consists of Milla Jovovich, as lead character Alice, dance-fighting her way through hordes of zombies, endless lines of well equipped henchmen, and gaping plot holes.

Whoah! Read the full review by clicking right here! Seriously, do it! CineBombs is a great site run by a couple of pretty chill dudes I’ve been conversing with on the internet lately, and I highly encourage you check out the rest of their site as well.

Summer ‘10 To-Do List: August Update and Concluding Ruminations

September 4, 2010 Newbs 1 Comment

The four months which I roughly designate “Summer” have concluded, and it’s time to look back at how well I managed my to-do list this year. First though, I need to tally up how well I did in August.
